CONCORD, Calif. -- Being in sight of a police station may not be the best location for a brothel.
Police in Concord have busted four suspected hookers as well as the alleged madam. They were doing business out of a new apartment building near the city's police station.
Detective Thomas Parodi said the women are "very, very attractive" and were charging $260 an hour.
Authorities said they found sex toys, condoms and appointment books, too. Police say they also have photos, video and files on more than 100 men from all over the San Francisco Bay area, who visited the apartment since the investigation began.
Lawmaker Wants To Make It Illegal To Buy Sex
One North Dakota lawmaker wants to make it illegal to buy sex as well as sell it.
State representative Steve Zaiser has proposed making it a misdemeanor to hire a hooker. He said while prostitution is illegal, solicitation isn't.
He contends that punishing the johns will help reduce the sex-for-sale trade. His bill would also punish the pimps.
Zaiser said he drafted his proposal after two strippers were busted in a prostitution sting but their customers weren't charged.
